Como la Gratitud puede romper las invisibles fronteras que creamos

Todos los sábados Alex Assali, un refugio sirio que vive en Berlín, cocina grandes ollas de comida y lo comparte con las personas sin hogar alemán en su barrio en un esfuerzo por devolver al país que le dio asilo. Huffington Post informa que abandonó Siria en 2007 sin un pasaporte y vivió en Libia durante varios años antes de hacer su casa de Alemania. Es difícil imaginar el tipo de dificultades que debió haber enfrentado en los últimos años, que es lo que hace esta historia sea tan poderosa.

Si usted puede bendecir a otra al pasar por sus propias tormentas, por muy intensa esas tormentas que sean, eso realmente dice algo acerca de usted como persona y el corazón humano en general.

Su historia está haciendo sus rondas a través de Internet después de una foto de él (abajo) que sirve comida fuera publicada en los medios sociales. Al parecer, él gasta su propio dinero haciendo este trabajo desinteresado, a pesar de ser incapaz de encontrar un trabajo estable. Actualmente vive fuera del gobierno alemán, que está proporcionando a los refugiados sirios 359 euros al mes.

Las fronteras invisibles que creamos
Los conceptos de la humanidad son realmente extraño. Parece que tenemos esta necesidad innata para dibujar las fronteras invisibles y líneas imaginarias para separar “nosotros” de “ellos.” Nos hemos convertido en una especie insensible al dolor, el dolor, y el sufrimiento de los demás. Ojalá pudiera vivir en un mundo donde la amabilidad y generosidad eran ante todo en nuestro corazón – un mundo donde, si alguien estuviera sufriendo, siempre habría alguien allí para ayudar. Lo que me molesta más es que ya contamos con los recursos y el potencial de proporcionar alimentos, ropa y refugio a cada ser humano en el planeta. No tiene por qué ser así. El dinero gastado en la guerra por sí sola podría resolver estos problemas en un corto período de tiempo, sin embargo, nos hemos vuelto tan envuelto en el sistema, en la política, y en nuestra propia codicia, que no estamos dispuestos a dejar estas experiencias con el fin de prosperar.

La historia anterior es un gran ejemplo de lo que hace el ser humano tan especial. Todos nosotros tenemos esa luz en nuestros corazones; nacemos con ella. Ningún niño nace racista o de odio en su corazón – estas actitudes se desarrollan a partir de nuestras experiencias en esta vida. Nuestras mentes pueden ser formados y moldeados a pensar de una manera determinada, y experiencias o influenciadores negativos pueden dejar su marca. Dicho esto, todos nosotros, incluyendo a los que han hecho lo que llamamos el “peor” de los actos, tener amor en sus corazones. Todos tenemos esa chispa dentro de nosotros; algunos de nosotros acabamos de desconectarse de él, y eso es porque hemos olvidado cómo vivir juntos en este gran hermoso planeta nuestro.

El servicio a los demás proporciona el mayor alimento para el alma. Es un alimento espiritual que nada material puede sustituir, y representa el verdadero significado de la riqueza, así que espero que estas palabras inspiran a hacer algo bueno, para ayudar a un ser humano. Porque la verdad es, usted puede ser el único que lo hace. La próxima vez que el universo le presente una oportunidad de ayudar a otro ser, tómala, o sal y crea la oportunidad tu mismo.

La crisis siria

Hemos escrito en profundidad sobre la actual crisis que afecta a nuestro planeta. Se nos ha invertido en la guerra por mucho tiempo, y muy pocas personas son conscientes de que estas guerras se llevan a cabo bajo premisas falsas mediante el uso de la propaganda de masas. Esto es lo que ha llevado a la devastación de Oriente Medio y el desplazamiento de muchas personas de sus hogares.

Lo que se necesita aquí no es una solución política, pero una humanitaria. Una que llame a todos los países a abandonar los juegos tontos de la política y de la guerra y se unan para ayudar a cambiar nuestro mundo.

Every Saturday Alex Assali, a Syrian refuge living in  Berlin, cooks large pots of food and shares it with the German homeless in his neighbourhood in an effort to give back to the country that gave him asylum. Huffington Post reports that he left Syria in 2007 without a passport and lived in Libya for several years before making Germany his home. It is difficult to fathom the kind of hardships he must have faced in recent years, which is what makes this story so powerful.

If you can bless another while going through your own storms, no matter how intense those storms are, that really says something about you as a person and the human heart in general.

Apparently, he spends his own money doing this selfless work, despite being unable to find a steady job. He is currently living off of the German government, which is providing Syrian refugees 359 euros a month.

The Invisible Borders That We Create

The conceits of mankind are strange indeed. We seem to have this inbuilt need to draw invisible borders and imaginary lines in order to separate ‘us’ from ‘them.’ We have become a species numb to the pain, hurt, and suffering of others. I wish I lived in a world where kindness and generosity were foremost in our hearts — a world where, if someone were suffering, there would always be someone there to help. What bothers me even more is that we already have the resources and potential to provide food, clothing, and shelter to every human being on the planet. It doesn’t have to be this way. The money spent on war alone could solve these issues in such a short period of time, yet we’ve become so wrapped up in the system, in politics, and in our own greed, that we are unwilling to drop these experiences in order to thrive.

The story above is a great example of what makes human beings so special. All of us have that light within our hearts; we are born with it. No child is born racist or with hate in their heart — these attitudes develop from our experiences in this life. Our minds can be shaped and moulded to think a certain way, and negative experiences or influencers can leave their mark. That being said, all of us, including those who have done what we call the ‘worst’ of acts, have love in their hearts. We all have that spark within us; some of us have just become disconnected from it, and that’s because we’ve forgotten how to live together on this big beautiful planet of ours.

Service to others provides the greatest nourishment to the soul. It is a spiritual food which nothing material can replace, and it represents the true meaning of wealth, so I hope these words inspire you to do something good, to help a fellow human being. Because the truth is, you may be the only one who ever does. Next time the universe presents you with an opportunity to help another being, take it, or go out and create that opportunity for yourself.

The Syrian Crisis

We’ve written in depth about the current crisis that plagues our planet. We have been invested in war for too long, and too few people are aware that these wars are being conducted under false premises through the use of mass propaganda. This is what has led to the devastation of the Middle East and the displacement of so many people from their homes.

What is needed here is not a political solution, but a humanitarian one. One that calls for all countries to drop the silly games of politics and war and come together to help change our world.
